Jesús E. López Vargas

Jesús López Vargas (he/him) is a professional manager, director and producer for theater and performance art. He has a BFA in Technical Theater from the University of Texas at El Paso, and is currently a MFA candidate at the University of California, Irvine, where he has received multiple awards and research fellowships in the past year. In 2020 he was hired at the New Swan Shakespeare Festival as an Assistant Artistic Director - supporting the festival's adaptation to the COVID-19 crisis.

 

Jesús has also been the managing director for K.B. Theatre Company since its founding in 2018 and the executive producer of "Re-Creating the Stage 2020", a program tailored specifically for young industry professionals affected by COVID-19. Jesús has 3 years of experience teaching and designing college/university-level studios and lectures and also has remote-teaching experience. In the past months, he has also produced multiple live digital events as the industry adapts to a new reality. He also writes & produces theatrical productions in bilingual verse, such as "/ECHO" (2018), "In This Light | There is Silence" (2019) & "Tzaqik | a tale, of many" (2020), and has 8 years of professional experience in fine-art, portrait & stage photography.
